Caroline & Dan’s Wedding at Fort Henry, Exton: Leeds Wedding Photographer
I remember meeting up with Caroline & Dan for coffee in winter, to talk about their Fort Henry wedding. Their focus was completely on their guests, with all sorts of wedding games, non-stop drinks and a big party planned for the evening.
Caroline & Dan both got ready in Stamford; Caroline at The Crown Hotel, and Dan at home. As they were so close together I had time to photograph Dan and his groomsmen. I watched Dan hand out tasks to his friends, most of which involved stocking the guests’ transport with booze. All guests were taken by big red bus from ‘ceremony pre-drinks’ at The Crown to Fort Henry in Exton. Fort Henry was beaming, we had such beautiful weather that the ceremony was held outside, followed by drinks next to the lake.
Photographing the outdoor ceremony was such a joy. I could capture different angles than a usual indoor wedding, and show off the splendour of the setting (an 18th century pleasure house on the Exton Estate).
The drinks reception continued at Barnsdale Lodge, and after the speeches everyone spilled onto the lawn to play space hopper races, coconut bowling and more. Caroline & Dan weren’t kidding when they said they wanted a huge party with the people they care about most. A duo performed outside in the early evening, followed by a karaoke hour and limoncello shots for everyone.
Towards the end of the evening I went for a walk with Caroline & Dan to take more pictures. The nerves from the ceremony had died down, the worry of the speeches was gone and they could just enjoy the alone time together. Not to mention the sun set made gorgeous warm light!
Although I am a Leeds based Yorkshire wedding photographer, I travel across the country (and beyond!) to photograph weddings. You can get in touch with me via the Contact Form, Facebook or by phone (see contact form) – let’s talk!
