Hannah & Joe’s Whimsical Tipi + Fairground Wedding
Hannah & Joe throw incredible, immersive parties, so when they told me their plans for a fairground wedding, I was in for a treat. Hannah hand made all the decorations, from ice breakers on the tables to the Aladdin’s cave of homemade sweets, popcorn machine and henna tattooing.
A tipi was set up in the garden of Joe’s grandparents’ farmhouse. Joe’s family have been married in Marholm church for generations and it’s a stone’s throw across the field from the farm. You could literally see the church from their drinks reception!
It was a scorcher in August, so Joe and his groomsmen were feeling the heat in their amazing velvet tuxes. The buttonholes were real keys with delicate feathers, and Joe wore a cravat no less. Hannah’s dress was a bespoke two-piece design and hand beaded, so it caught the light beautifully. The couple’s daughter wore a little white dress with the same beading, to match her mother.
After the church ceremony, guests made the short walk across the field towards ‘Hannah Land’ (the fairground!) and were greeted by a unicorn – a special touch for Hannah & Joe’s daughter. Don’t miss the photo of Hannah & Joe, fully clad in their wedding outfits, sliding down the ‘death drop’!
Friends and family of the couple came together to make the day even more personal. The tipi was a hive of activity the day before the wedding, everyone pitching in to dress it. All the flowers were arranged by Hannah’s grandmother, made from pickings in her garden. Even the catering was lead by Joe’s parents. It was a joy to watch so many people put in so much effort, and for it to come together so spectacularly.
