Cost of living is a hot topic right now (when isn’t it?) and that’s shining a spotlight on how expensive weddings can be. Couples are having to make tough decisions about what is absolutely necessary for their wedding, and what they might have to cut back on. I am firmly of the belief that excellent wedding photography is a necessity – it’s the only part of your wedding that you to remember your day by.

There are a few options:

• Reduce the budget elsewhere in the wedding to pay for a photographer
• Find a less expensive, but crucially, less experienced photographer
• WONDERFUL option number three: have a photographer for fewer hours to capture the main parts of your wedding, rather than full day coverage.

You Don’t Have to Compromise on Quality

I feel so strongly about this – being on a budget doesn’t mean you have to compromise on the quality of your wedding photography. Keep looking at photographers whose work you love. Some may advertise that they do shorter coverage, like the hourly small wedding photography packages I offer.
If you don’t see it displayed on their website, ask! I know lots of photographers, myself included pre-Covid, who are happy to alter their photography package to accommodate couples who aren’t looking for 10+ hours of photography.

Book a Wedding Photographer for Short Day Coverage

Micro weddings are on the rise, I’ve been shooting more small weddings than ever before. If you are planning a smaller event, there’s no reason you shouldn’t have gorgeous pictures! Hourly wedding coverage and small wedding photography packages can be the ideal solution for couples who don’t want any photography while they’re getting ready, or if they’re not having a party into the wee hours of the night. Essentially hourly coverage, or half day coverage can be the way to alleviate costs.

I want to photograph peoples’ weddings no matter the size, the plan, or how camera shy the couple is! More and more photographers are offering alternative coverage from the whole shebang: morning to night. I offer hourly coverage for smaller weddings anywhere from one hour to six hours. I wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on having photos they can cherish forever.

Week Day & Off-Peak Weddings

It isn’t well known that photographers can offer a range of photography coverage beyond the standard ‘whole day’ which is usually 8-10 hours. Not everyone does, but it’s absolutely worth asking your dream photographer, especially if you are getting married on a week day, or during the off-peak season (November-March). Some photographers will make an exception during the quieter time of year!
